Lucky 13 reminds me of pizza we got locally when I was growing up in So Cal, so I like it a lot. It's downhill fast from there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-662475529832589941.post-69908510852946412712011-09-08T08:25:11.097-06:002011-09-08T08:25:11.097-06:00Actually, I was just saying to the roommate that w...Actually, I was just saying to the roommate that we need to try Pizzalchik. They're literally right down the street from our apartment and I read that same article, though I don't have much interest in a wild mushroom pizza. It's nice to have a recommendation from someone whose taste I can trust!Trackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15653070522513819673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-662475529832589941.post-7386393357360393322011-09-07T21:43:16.280-06:002011-09-07T21:43:16.280-06:00I forgot to mention Pizzalchik. If not, it's a really cool little place located in a strip mall on the corner of State and Glenwood that features gourmet pizzas (their wild mushroom pizza was recently ranked one of the 50 best/most unique in the U.S.), interesting salads, roasted chicken, amazing potatoes (with homemade fry sauce no less) homemade cheesecakes and a couple of daily specials. I've only been there a few times, but each time I really enjoyed it. I'm going Friday with friends, at least two of whom have never been before. Can't wait!juli1357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-662475529832589941.post-36265744150872796822011-09-06T23:48:49.949-06:002011-09-06T23:48:49.949-06:00Glad you dug Richie's as much as I do. I've also heard good things about Messenger, but I just don't make it out to Nampa as often as I should. But I have to admit a Sriracha and sausage pizza sounds good right now...Trackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15653070522513819673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-662475529832589941.post-38657602833302850782011-09-06T23:26:13.454-06:002011-09-06T23:26:13.454-06:00I tried New York Richie's today for the first ...I tried New York Richie's today for the first time. It was everything you said it was and more. Like you, I love Guido's for it's authenticity, but New York Richie's has superior pizza for all the reasons you listed in your review. I had a slice of the meat-veggie combo. Normally, I get a combo slice only when I can't figure out what else to have and usually, I end up wishing I had gone with the pepperoni or some other slice with fewer ingredients. Not this time. This was hands down, the best combo slice I've ever had! And like you said, the place was big, clean and the service was great. I can't wait to share this find with all my pizza-loving friends because like you, I'm hoping Richie sticks around.

If you haven't already tried them, you should consider checking out the pizza at Messenger's Pizza in Nampa and Brewtopia, which is near the intersection of Overland and Eagle Rd. Of the two, Brewtopia is my favorite, but Messenger's has the better atmosphere. At Brewtopia, I'd recommend sticking with one of their unique flavor combos, or do as I do and ask them to do two different pizzas on one pie, half on each side. The owner has a knack for coming up with interesting pizzas, and if his regular menu isn't enticing enough, every month he highlights two new ones that are seasonal (i.e. Pot Roast Dinner and Oktoberfest). The only pizza I've had there that I didn't care for was the Thai pizza. They've also got really good chicken wings, available in 3 unique flavors. There is a Brewforia in Bown Crossing too, but they don't have pizza, just sandwiches and wings for the most part. Apparently, they had to sign some kind of no compete agreement so they wouldn't draw customers away from Flat Bread, which is a block away. A friend of mine says they have a great Bahn Mi on the menu. Messenger's is thin crust pizza with a gourmet flair. Their slices are more hearty than Guido's and way more interesting. One of their bestsellers is called "The Drunken Goat." Their staff also come up with some interesting late night pies. I tried a Sriracha and Sausage combo once that was really good. They've also got homemade salad dressings (always big in my book) and a really funky environment. If you ever wondered where Aunt Marge's hideous yellow flowered couch ended up, ask no more...juli1357noreply@blogger.com
